Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has organised a meeting with Department for Community Officials to help groups apply for the Community Hall Fund.
Mr. McGuigan said:
“I have organised an official from the Department for Communities to come to the Millenium centre in Loughgiel next Tuesday 8th at 7 30pm to speak to groups across the North Antrim constituency and answer questions about the Community halls fund recently announced and closing on 23rd of this month.
“This may be of benefit to community groups/parish groups and other groups in the community who could benefit from up to £25k to assist with needed work.
“The turnaround time for this fund is very tight and I thought a meeting with the Department would help groups in the application process.
“This is a pilot project and I share concerns about the tight timeframe and also the restrictive criteria in the application process which I hope are widened in the future if this fund is opened again but in the meantime I want to make sure that this years applicants are from all community backgrounds and that all communities benefit from the fund.”
