Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has asked the Minister for Infrastructure to consider Loughgiel Millenium Centre as an option for an e.Working Centre.
Mr. Mc Guigan said
“I welcome the e.Working scheme launched by the Minister which will allow staff to work at an office location nearer their home up to three days per week. There are many reasons – promoting a better work/life balance, reducing time spent travelling, improving staff morale, increasing productivity, reducing absenteeism – for implementing this and I hope it is something that other Departments will role out.
“I also welcome that one of the 11 centres across the North to be used is in Ballymena in North Antrim allowing staff from this constituency to benefit from the scheme but I have asked the Minister to consider Loughgiel as and additional location to enhance the potential locally for people currently traveling long distances from as far North as Ballycastle to Belfast and Stormont to work.
Loughgiel Councillor Kieran Mulholland added;
“The Millenium Centre has all the necessary office facilities to carry out this function and is in a central and safe location with good parking and if included at some point I have no doubt would be fully utilised. I too would encourage other Government departments to introduce this scheme and support Loughgiel as a possible location.”
