Sinn Féin North Antrim MLA has expressed disappointment that no additional roads across North Antrim have been added to the gritting schedule for this winter.
Mr. McGuigan said:
“Winter gritting of roads is obviously an essential service for road users. I would like to see this service and the good work of the Transport NI staff extended to additional roads particularly in a rural constituency like North Antrim were many of the roads that are bus routes for our schools and other rural services don’t meet the current criteria of 1500 vehicles per day.
“I know the team of Sinn Féin councillors and myself have been trying to get additional roads added to the schedule and we will continue to lobby for this. With the road works on the A26 much more traffic is using the Station road in Dunloy and other roads and I am disappointed that these haven’t been included on the schedule for this year.”
