Sinn Féin councillor Cathal McLaughlin will again be asking Transport NI to assess the need for road safety provisions for Mounthill Park in the village of Cloughmills
Mr McLaughlin said:
“Four years ago I held meetings, with what was Roads Service at that time, on the same issue but was told the need was not there, even though it would have been the only housing development in the village without safety issues in place.
“I have again been contacted by residents over speeding cars in the area. There are a large number of young families with many children playing on the avenues, people are quite rightly concerned that a child could be injured or worse if hit by a car, and for the sake of just one safety measure it would be a small price to pay.
‘’Residents have approached speeding motorists to ask that they slow down in this area, but this appeal seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
Residents need the support of the authorities to make these areas safer for their children.’’
